K Bella Is Spreading Environmental AwarenessPlease Celebrate with us all next week April 24th-28th for Earth Day! We will be donating $1 from every hair cut and product sold and be taking donations all week for The Earth Day Network.

Every day of the year, Earth Day Network grows environmental awareness around the world as a leading provider of civic engagement and environmental education. Through Earth Day Network, activists connect, interact, and impact their communities, creating positive change in local, national and global policies. Your generous donation supports EDN’s work with 22,000 organizations in 192 countries, as well as a domestic program involving 3,000 groups and over 100,000 educators.

Also, have your child bring in earth day pictures and get half-off their kids cut! We will vote next week for the best drawing and that child will win a free haircut!

Working Hard in Chi Town

Americas Beauty Show in Chicago 2012Kristan, Ashley, and Heidi all worked hard creating the looks for Neuma at the Americas Beauty Show in Chicago! Kristan, a design team member along with Bobby Paul from Orbit Salon did all the cutting for the models while education advisers Heidi and Ashley worked hard styling and coloring the models to make them perfect.

K Bella Girls Rock-Out Some Up Styling!

Photo Courtesy of Image 33 PhotographyCheck out some of our photos from our latest fashion show.  The K Bella Girls worked hard at styling over 40 models in 4 hours both hair and makeup for an awesome charity event at Village of Rochester Hills Fashion Show… More than 300 people attended the event, with proceeds benefiting The Women’s Fund of Rochester. It featured clothing and accessories from several Village shops like The Buckle, Banana Republic, Black and White, and so many more!  We want to thank Mary at Image33 Photography for the wonderful photos!!

Ingredient Watch of the WeekWe have been slowly changing our salon to be a green sustainable company!!  We have moved toward organic hair color like All Nutrient, and Green Sustainable Organic Hair Care Products from Neuma and Surface.  The Team also recycles everything we can and use Pure Contaminant Free Water with Reverse Osmosis drinking water.  There are many new exciting things to come on our path making sure to be a Vegan, Pita Friendly, Toxic free Salon.

Parabens

Ingredient Watch of the Week
Parabens are a group of synthetic preservatives commonly used in cosmetics. They are commonly found at the bottom of the ingredient listing, if one is available. Common parabens are methylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben.

Parabens and other synthetic preservatives are known to cause irritations to sensitive skin. Parabens were also found to cause heart tissue problems over an extended time period. They are suspected to influence breast cancer and are known endocrine disruptors that influence the hormonal system and can affect fetal development.
